Fall Out Boy-Chicago Theater Brief Review 12/2/08

Fall Out Boy returned to the Windy City Tuesday night in an evening full of flair and focus. If you only know of the band from what you see on TV or hear on the gossip pages, boy, are you missing out on one of the best bands on the planet at the moment.

The last time they played Chicago, it was a massvie sold-out show at the Allstate Arena that was easily one of my favorite shows of the last few years {review here}. It was an awakening as the band found a purpose and exceeded expectations. While the crowd may have been smaller on Tuesday, it still was chock full of the same manic energy of an arena show.

Running through 17-songs, the band delivered a smattering of classics and a handful of new songs; all of which were met with wildly enthusiastic fervor. It's been a while I have seen a band of Fall Out Boy's size and stature who still cares about the fans. The tickets were priced at an obscenely low $10 and if you missed it, do not fret, FUSE will air portions of the show on December 16th, the day their new album lands.

A more in depth and detailed review will be running on antiMusic within days. In the meantime check out my 2007 review here and the Sun Times review here.
