U2's Opening Performance on the Grammys-My 2 Cents

I love U2 and believe they deserve all of the accolades they have been given over the years. However, I'm not sure what to think of their opening performance at the Grammys of "Get On Your Boots". It wasn't bad, but this is U2, they should have raised the roof on the Staples Center. Everyone should have sat there with their mouths agape and saying to themselves; "I don't know what the hell that was, but it was utterly brilliant". Sadly the performance wasn't brilliant. It was exactly what I expected. Coldplay did the opposite, they took a song ("Lost") I have had issues with since initially hearing it and the subtle performance is going to make me go back to that album tomorrow.

I've come to the conclusion that if you appear on the Grammys you shouldn't be allowed to perform unless you are nominated. The exception to that rule would be a tribute performance or Prince. Why Prince? Because that little man never ceases to amaze me. However, U2 isn't nominated this year, they are merely playing the game trying to appease stockholders of their record company and Live Nation. They're one of the greatest bands ever, but tonight they didn't perform like they were.
