He came, he saw and he rocked, plain and simple. I could have done without his new song, alas, it was short and placed well, but he was paid to entertain and he did just that. My biggest surprise was the amount of pyrotechnics that went with his performance.
His song selection was good, he was in a joyous mood, the band sounded excellent and well, he did a stellar job with the 13-minutes on stage. If trying to obtain tickets to his shows this morning is any indication, the rest of America was deeply impressed as well.
By the way, for those of you who don't have a lot of Bruce in your collection at the moment, Best Buy is selling The Essential Bruce Springsteen for $11.99, just to be clear, that is 3 cd's worth of Springsteen for $2 more than the Wal-Mart set. So if you can live without "Radio Nowhere", this is where your money should be spent. It can be found at this link.
If you are more adventurous, then I would suggest Tracks, for which I will throw up a review later today.
